Nineteen-year-old drowns at Rocky Neck State Park
East Lyme — A 19-year-old Oakdale man who was pulled from the water at Rocky Neck State Park Saturday evening has died, according to the Department of Environmental and Energy Protection.
The East Lyme Police Department, EnCon Police, the Niantic Fire Department and emergency medical responders were called to the park at 5:17 p.m. Saturday for a reported drowning.
The victim, Dante Robinson, who was a resident at a group home, was pulled from the water by another group home member, according to a news release from Will Healey, communications manager for DEEP. It was estimated he had been under water for several minutes.
A good Samaritan, who was a certified nursing assistant, performed CPR before emergency medical staff arrived on scene. The man was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the news release.
