East Lyme — The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said its environmental conservation police and local emergency responders were called to an active drowning Saturday evening at Rocky Neck State Park.

The person was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, according to the agency. No details were immediately available about that person or their condition. It was not clear if there was a lifeguard on duty or where exactly the incident occurred at the park.

East Lyme Police Department said officers assisted EnCon Police, Niantic Fire Department and EMS on the 5:17 p.m. call. EnCon Police is actively investigating, the agency said.

A DEEP spokesman could not be reached Saturday.
