Historical building at Groton beach gets some fresh paint

Groton — Workers with Gesco Inc., a general contractor specializing in historic preservation based in Avon, Conn., were painting the trim and underside of the porch roof of the Tyler House at Eastern Point Beach Park in Groton City on Thursday.

David Gavrillen, president of Gesco, says he replaced decking and some windows in the building, built in 1905, about two years ago and is planning to complete the window replacement this fall.

The house is used as offices, concessions and rest rooms by the Parks and Recreation Department.
