Annual meeting and budget vote looms in Ledyard
Ledyard — Next week marks the annual Town Meeting and budget vote.
Officials note there are a couple of changes in this year's process. The annual meeting on Monday, May 17, can be attended either in person or remotely via Zoom at http://bit.ly/ledyardtm21, or audio only by telephone can be accessed at 1 (646) 558-8656. The meeting ID number is 992 0672 3840 and passcode is 820981.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the high school auditorium. It will be adjourned to a townwide referendum the following day. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Unlike previous years, there is only one polling place: the Town Hall Annex. Absentee ballots can be obtained by contacting the town clerk's office at (860) 464-3257.
The $60,295,817 proposal for the 2021-22 fiscal year increases spending by 0.27%, while reducing the mill rate by 3.56%. Town officials say most taxpayers will see their tax bills go up due to recent property revaluations. The education budget stands at $33,671,969, a 1.45% increase over current spending.
The budget can be viewed online at ledyardct.org.
