GRAND OPENING

Ace Hardware, 40 Boston Post Road, Waterford, is celebrating its grand opening weekend from Aug. 6–8. It is the fourth store opened by local residents Andy and Nancy Grant. The 10,000-square-foot store includes brands Craftsman, Weber, Benjamin Moore and Scotts. HONORS

For the fourth consecutive year, Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has been named a "Best-In-State" credit union in the annual Forbes survey of the nation's best financial institutions. The award is presented by Forbes and Statista Inc., the global statistics portal and industry ranking provider. Forbes and Statista identified America's Best-In-State Credit Unions for 2021 based on an independent nationwide survey of approximately 25,000 U.S. consumers. Randy Richards Design Group in Noank won 8 awards in 2020 from American Graphic Design USA and is included in their design annual published in 2021. RRDG won awards for Videos, Photos, Branding, Logos, Websites, Packaging, and Merchandising. Randy Richards is President, creative director, and Kyle Richards, is VP, Senior Art Director.

Chelsea Groton Bank team members recently graduated from the Center for Financial Training, the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT's Leadership Program, and the Connecticut Bankers Association's Connecticut School of Finance and Management. Team members also completed the American Bankers Association Marketing School and earned professional certifications in various concentrations.

Jessica Charette, Branch Operations Specialist, earned the Financial Services Operations Diploma from the Center for Financial Training. OSJL of Old Saybrook LLC has purchased The Shoppes at Old Saybrook at 901 Boston Post Road from Basser Kaufman Saybrook LLC for $6.75 million. The 94,175-square-foot regional shopping center features Ocean State Job Lot, Town Fair Tire, Dollar Tree, O'Reilly Auto Parts and Midas Muffler. Matt Halprin, President and Chief Operating Officer of New England Retail Properties, Inc., represented the buyer and seller.

MedCraft Investment Partners, an investment platform focused on healthcare real estate, has purchased the 69,950-square-foot Crossroads Professional Building at 196 Parkway South in Waterford. The Class A facility houses 10 medical specialty tenants including a mix of outpatient services, employed and independent physicians. The Wireless Zone in Groton, New London, Glastonbury, North Windham, Killingly, Putnam and Westerly are inviting local families to their locations on Sunday, Aug. 1, between 1-4 p.m. to pick up a backpack filled with school supplies. One backpack per child, must be present, while supplies last.  In addition, Wireless Zone also nominated multiple nonprofit organizations to receive grants from the Wireless Zone Foundation for a total of $40,000. They include Frank Olean Center, Jonnycake Center of Westerly, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island and Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, Camp Horizons, End Hunger Connecticut, Girls on the Run International (Greater Hartford), New England Science & Sailing Foundation, High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Inc., Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, Northeast Opportunities for Wellness, TEEG and Waterford Country School. Stop & Shop in conjunction with Long Trail Brewing Company donated $1,000 to Connecticut Food Bank/Foodshare. Throughout the month of June, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of cases of Long Trail Brewing Company beer purchased at Connecticut Stop & Shop locations were donated to support the food bank's community-based programs that provide nutritious food to people in need across the state.
