Three charged in East Lyme assault and robbery
East Lyme — East Lyme police have charged three people in connection with an assault and robbery they say occurred Oct. 5 in a wooded area of Niantic.
Jerod S. White, 37, of Enfield along with Nicole Birch, 20, and Gavin Birch, 22, both of 43 Carriage Hill Road in Niantic, are charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and first-degree reckless endangerment. All are bring held in lieu of $200,000 court set bonds.
Police, in a statement, said the arrests stem from an investigation that started Oct. 6 when police were notified that a 28-year-old Bloomfield man was at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford being treated for injuries related to an assault. The victim suffered serious facial injuries.
Police said the investigation determined the victim was accompanied to the location of the assault and robbery by the three accused, who were known to him.
Court records show Gavin Birch has a pending case in New London Superior Court for his Oct. 6 arrest by Waterford police for illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.
