New London police report uptick in burglaries, criminal mischief in city's south end
New London — City police have charged a teenager with trespassing and are warning residents in the city’s south end about a recent increase in crime.
About 4 a.m. Monday, police said they responded to the area of Montauk and Gardner avenues for a report of two suspicious men in the backyard of a residence. Police found a 16-year-old male, who “attempted to evade police contact” but subsequently was charged with third-degree criminal trespass and interfering with an officer, police said. The unidentified teen later was released into the custody of his mother. Police did not find the second reported male.
With a reported uptick in burglaries, larcenies and incidents of criminal mischief, police urge anyone who has information and/or video concerning these incidents to contact the New London Police Department at (860) 447-5269, ext. 0. Anonymous information may be submitted via the New London Tips 411 system by texting NLPDTip plus the information to Tip411 (847411).
