Rescued pup gets a 'spaw' treatment in Mystic

Mystic — Fletcher got his nails done, a bath and the works Friday during a "spaw" treatment at My Fetching Hound pet groomer.

The year-old bulldog came to CT Animal House — a Waterford nonprofit that works to end the euthanasia of adoptable dogs in pounds in the state — from the East Hartford Animal Control after being seized in a cruelty case.

My Fetching Hound owner Christine Royer has been in the pet care business, both by herself and with others, for over 20 years in the region and opened her new shop on Williams Street two weeks ago.

Fletcher came to visit with Chris Lamb of CT Animal House. The dog has recovered from his injuries, but Lamb still is seeking donations for a needed operation stemming from a congenital heart condition.
