New London Rotary Club donates $15,000 to community food providers
The New London Rotary Club, concerned about food insecurity and hunger in the community, is donating $5,000 each to the Community Meal Center, Gemma Moran Food Bank and New London Area Food Pantry.
After Rotary President Alex Marku spoke passionately about the reality that 20 percent of children and 15 percent of adult don't have enough food, Mark Spinnato, a member of the club's Foundation Board of Directors, proposed the donations, which were supported by the entire board.
"Members of the board feel that there is nothing more important than addressing the needs of children and adults going hungry during this pandemic holiday season," said a press release from the Rotary Club.
