Shoppers donate food during New London police union drive
New London — The New London police union members held a food drive Saturday outside the ShopRite at the New London Mall.
The union has collected food for the center by packing its "paddy wagon" since 2004, it said in a news release Friday. Thanksgiving items, including turkeys, cranberry sauce and stuffing, were accepted, as well as macaroni and cheese, tuna fish, peanut butter, canned goods (vegetables, soups and other goods), any type of pasta or rice, and cereal, the release said.
The items that the union, with partners ShopRite supermarkets and the Capano family, collected during the event will benefit the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center.
