Stonington lobstermen getting ready for season's start
Stonington — Matthew Maderia, owner of Lobster Kingz, has been preparing for lobster season, which starts Dec. 1.
On Wednesday, he was repairing his lobster traps at the Stonington Town Docks. Maderia, who has a full-time job as his lobster business is part time, said the first couple of months may be hard for lobstermen because of the economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They rely on wholesalers and restaurants and there may not be as much of a demand for lobsters as usual, he said.
He also mentioned that spending time at the docks is his Zen because is able to forget about things, enjoy his surroundings and be in a good state of mind.
