Boatyards getting vessels ready for winter storage
Stonington — Staff at Dodson Boatyard have already been pulling boats out of the water and getting them ready for the winter.
The company's Hauling and Launch Department staff, including Gabriel Lima, have been power-washing hulls to prepare them to be stored outdoors on site in Stonington or at the company's indoor storage facility in Ashaway, R.I.
David Boisvert, head of the department, said staff started hauling a few boats out of the water the second week of September and it won't be real steady until after Oct. 1, with the peak being anytime after Columbus Day, and continuing through Christmas.
