La Grua Center presents virtual 'Schumann Chamber Duos' concert
The still-virtual Music Matters season, hosted by the La Grua Center in Stonington, continues at 5 p.m. Saturday with a pre-recorded presentation of "Schumann Chamber Duos" featuring pianist Misuzu Tanaka and clarinetist Maksim Shtrykov. The virtuosic pair will play separate 30-minute recitals.
The first features Shtrykov on boxwood clarinet and includes Clara Schumann's Drei Romanzen, Op 22 followed by Robert Schumann's F-A-E Sontata 2, Adagio & Allegro, Op. 70, and Fantasiestücke, Op. 73. In the second set, Shtrykov adds grenadilla clarinet to the palette for versions of Robert Schumann's Drei Romanzen, Op. 94, the grenadilla take on the F-A-E Sonata 2, Fünf Stüke im Volkston, Op. 102, and Klavierstucke, Op. 85 12.
